Caracas, Oct 13 (EFE).- The Venezuelan opposition party Primero Justicia (PJ) reaffirmed this Sunday its commitment to defending the “triumph” that – it insists – anti-Chavismo obtained in the presidential elections on July 28, in which However, President Nicolás Maduro was proclaimed the winner by the National Electoral Council (CNE).
“We are committed to consolidating and defending the electoral victory of July 28, strengthening opposition unity and exerting internal and external pressure so that the will of the Venezuelan people is respected, promoting a democratic and transparent agenda,” he expressed in X.
In that sense, he indicated that, after “long hours of debate and work” by his national committee, he approved a “strategic political plan” for “the defense of popular sovereignty and the strengthening of democratic unity.”
The objective is to remain “close to the needs and demands of the people” and “be part of the solution and overcoming the serious humanitarian crisis that the country is suffering from.”
The plan contemplates, as “strategic lines”, strengthening “the opposition leadership”, consolidating “the decision-making structure”, innovating in “internal and external pressure”, reinforcing “unity” and defending “national sovereignty, publication of the minutes and the transparent audit of the results of July 28,” PJ added.
The party, which supported the candidacy of opposition leader Edmundo González Urrutia in the last elections, approves this plan almost three weeks after the anti-Chavista leader Henrique Capriles announced his resignation from the national board of PJ due to “lack of internal unity” and “transparency and accountability of administrators.”
In a letter published on September 23, the former governor assured that the junta “does not have a clear plan or a proposal” in “times of so much turbulence and uncertainty,” especially after the elections and “the theft of sovereignty.” popular by those in power.
The two-time candidate for the Presidency also pointed out that “some militants” have been “exposed” to “baseness” by former deputy Julio Borges – exiled in Spain -, vice president of Communication and International Relations of PJ.
According to Capriles, Borges prioritizes “his particular interests” and has a “long history of paid use of networks and portals to attack and discredit” opponents, “even members of this party.”
Subsequently, the party rejected the letter and clarified that its “commitment, focus and energy are concentrated in the defense of the results of July 28, together with the elected president Edmundo González Urrutia” and the opposition leader María Corina Machado, the main supporter of the former candidate. .
