PSSI CHAIRMAN Erick Thohir advised the Indonesian national team to forget the draw against the Bahrain national team and focus on the match against the Chinese national team. In order to maintain hopes of qualifying for the 2026 World Cup, the Garuda team must win.

Indonesia will face China in the fourth match of Group C of the Third Round of 2026 World Cup Qualification in Qingdao, Tuesday (15/10).

Erick asked the players not to get caught up in disappointment regarding the controversial 2-2 draw against Bahrain.

“We must not continue to blame the referee. I told the players, I texted (messaged) all the players one by one,” said Erick in Jakarta, Saturday (12/10).

The match at home to China will be crucial to maintain Indonesia’s chances of reaching the top four.

Mathematically, if they are able to win over China, the Indonesian national team will be on the right track because they collect an average of 1.5 points per match.

“We had a big dream (target) of 15 points, now we have only three points from three matches. There is still hope. If we succeed in winning against China, our points will increase to six,” he said.

Erick appreciated the players who showed high fighting spirit. Hope is still open and the Garuda team must look for some wins when they become hosts.

After fighting China, Indonesia played two home matches against Japan and Saudi Arabia. The Red and White Team also still has home matches against Bahrain and China.

”When you play against China or when you play against Saudi Arabia (you need to win). “If we play against Japan, it will certainly be difficult, but let’s try first, don’t lose (give up) first,” he said.

“We are a nation that smiles generously, but when it comes to fighting, we must look scary,” concluded Erick. (Z-1)
