In the occupied territories, the Russians are recruiting Ukrainian convicts into the army

Military expert Egidijus Papečkys traditionally shared his insights about the war in Ukraine on Facebook on Sunday evening.

He indicated that the intensity of actions on the front is not decreasing: both Ukrainians and Russians are attacking towards Kupyansk, near Bakhmut and in Zaporizhia. Attacks and counterattacks are mostly carried out in small groups.

E. Papečkys drew attention to the situation near the Dnieper. He claimed that the Russians were trying to push the Ukrainians from the left bank of the river back to the right with artillery fire, while Ukrainian forces were pounding the Russian artillery.

“The Russian military command does not intend to allow the Ukrainians to keep the bridgeheads, which they would later expand little by little. Therefore, the commander of the operational group “Dnipras” was changed,” said the military expert.

However, the most difficult situation remains near Avdijivka.

“Today, Russian sources confirm what I stated earlier. Here, the aggressor was able to imperceptibly mobilize new units, which, after targeting the right moment, broke through and developed a breakthrough. Just like they did at Soledar. However, they suffered heavy losses, because the Ukrainian defense was well equipped here,” assessed E. Papečkys.

He noted that at this point the question could arise, why the Ukrainian forces did not install such a defense as the Russians in the direction of Zaporizhia? The answer, according to him, is simple – Ukrainians do not have enough strength and means for this.

E. Papečkys also pointed out that there is increasing anxiety in the Russian information space about the leader of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov.

“The Russo-fascists have been talking with concern for some time now about the politics of the Chechen leader behind his back – he is gathering strength by mobilizing Chechens who fought against Russia, as well as increasing his independence.”

Russians massively shelled the rear of Ukraine, more than half a dozen missiles and drones were fired, Russian air defenses repelled Ukrainian drones in the occupied territories and on the border.

“The still functioning gas pipeline from Russia to Europe, built through the territory of Ukraine, was recalled again. Some absurdity – according to the terms of the contract, Russian gas is still flowing through it, its supply will be stopped only in 2024, when the contract expires. There has never been such a war in which two warring states did not cut such important supply lines, and even settled with each other for it,” emphasized E. Papečkys.

He estimated that the Ukrainians managed to adapt American Sea Sparrow missiles to fire from Soviet Buk air defense systems. It is also said that American Sidewinder missiles are fired from some kind of launchers.

“This would help solve the problem of the shrinking Soviet anti-aircraft missiles, while NATO warehouses are full of the mentioned American missiles,” he added.
