5 people died due to the collapse of a building under construction in Karachi

5 people died and 4 were injured when a building under construction of Qadri Masjid collapsed in Shah Faisal Colony area of ​​Karachi.

Shah Faisal Colony Police Station SHO Saqib Khan said that the workers were engaged in the process of laying the RCC roof of the under-construction building and the building collapsed.

He said that the corner plot of 40 yards is located in Shah Faisal Colony No. 5 where the ground floor was already constructed in a bad condition and now the first and second floors were being constructed.

The SHO said that apparently the old roof made of slabs could not bear the weight of two more floors and that is why it collapsed.

Police said that initially a passer-by shopkeeper was killed on the spot and 4 workers were evacuated with injuries.

The SHO said that the debris was removed with the help of machinery and 4 more bodies were recovered from there.

He said that a case would be registered against the house owner, due to which human lives were lost and people were also injured.

Earlier, Edhi Rescue had said that one more body was recovered from the rubble of the three storied building, taking the total number of dead to three.

The statement said that the body of a civilian and an injured person have been shifted to Jinnah Post Graduate Medical Center.

Korangi Police had said that the collapsed building was under construction, police and rescue officials have reached the accident site.

The statement further informed that 8 laborers were working in the building, out of which four rescued persons sustained minor injuries and have been shifted to hospital.

It was said in the statement that a citizen running a stall nearby died due to the collapse of the building.
