The seven airports operated by AAHL are currently equipped with DigiYatra, powered by Thales’ Fly to Gate solution, based on the responsible use of advanced facial recognition technology as secure proof of passenger identification. Pre-registered passengers can expedite their journey easily and reliably, eliminating the need to present identification documents and boarding passes at each checkpoint (from check-in to boarding). Reducing passenger processing times by up to 30% at these airports, this integration of responsible biometric solutions (cf. Thales TrUE Biometrics) aligns with the Indian government’s vision of a digital India.

Additionally, Thales has been contracted to work on the design, integration and implementation of an end-to-end APOC solution for all airports managed by AAHL. That “Smart Digital Platform” cloud-based platform will centrally host all applications needed to improve overall airport management, security and passenger experience. The innovative APOC platform collects operational data from integrated airport subsystems and sensors while respecting privacy standards. This data is processed intelligently using automation, big data analytics, and robust artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms. The solution that will be implemented soon, will anticipate and reduce unplanned resource shortages, increasing global predictability and efficiency.

“We are excited for this strategic partnership with Thales to help us on our ongoing digital transformation journey at our airports. With this collaboration, we are proud to make DigiYatra available to millions of passengers traveling through our airports and have advanced Airport Operations Control Centers for intelligent airport management. With Thales1’s deep expertise in cybersecurity, responsible biometrics, identity management, operational efficiency and systems integration, we aim to create a safe and integrated airport environment for passengers. Together, we contribute to India’s vision of a digitally empowered future,” these Arun Bansal, CEO of Adani Airport Holdings Limited.

“We are excited to strengthen our partnership with Adani Airport Holdings Limited to offer innovative technology solutions to revolutionize airport operations and passenger experience in India. Our Fly to Gate biometric solution for DigiYatra and the intelligent Airport Operations Control Center (APOC) will enable AAHL to streamline operations and also ensure a safe and streamlined journey for millions of passengers. Together, we are committed to supporting India in its vision of becoming the world’s largest aviation market by 2047,” these Ashish Saraf, Vice President and Country Director, India, Thales.

1DigiYatra is an industry-led initiative that uses facial recognition technology to make terminal entry and airport security clearance a simple, seamless and paperless process. DigiYatra is a decentralized identity document storage platform for mobile devices where passengers can save their identity and travel documents. It is available to all AADHAAR holders and plans to include foreign/Indian/e-passports in the near future.
