Maribel Guardia reveals that she donated her son Julián Figueroa’s belongings to Joan’s muse…

Maribel Guardia: A Heartfelt Tribute and A Cheeky Chat About Life, Death, and Everything In Between

Ah, grief. That lovely little emotion that sneaks up on you when you least expect it—like a friend who really should’ve texted to say they were coming over. But instead of curling up with a pint of ice cream and a binge-watch of sad films, Maribel Guardia is diving headfirst into her own emotional rollercoaster, post the untimely departure of her son, Julian Figueroa. And what’s she doing with the remnants of his legacy? Why, she’s sending them off to the Joan Sebastian museum, of course! Because nothing says ‘I miss you’ quite like turning your loved one’s belongings into museum exhibits.

Our dear Maribel revealed to the press, with a sincerity that could put a soap opera to shame, that she’s decided to donate almost all of Julian’s show clothes. Yes, you heard that right. No more DIY projects for those garments; they’re off to the museum where they can be admired, critiqued, and perhaps even outperformed by fashionistas in the years to come! Remember, folks, those pieces are “unique and unrepeatable garments”—not to be confused with my collection of “unique” and “unrepeatable” outfits that were a hit at the office Christmas party in 2006.

But let’s pause for a moment. Maribel’s love for her son was palpable—and as she passionately explains her decision, you can practically hear the collective “awww” from every corner of the internet. That museum? It’s not just a collection; it’s a tribute. A place where fans can fleetingly touch the magic created by ‘The People’s Poet’. Because who among us doesn’t want to get up close and personal with a bit of celebrity memorabilia? It’s like a spiritual museum tour, only with less snooze-worthy art commentary and more emotional depth than a Tarantino movie.

The Ashes Situation: Keeping the Spirit Close

And speaking of depth, let’s discuss the display of Julian’s ashes—now here’s where things get real. Maribel is keeping them close, making every morning a delightful reminder of her son, like a weirdly relatable form of home décor. “I still have the ashes with me,” she explained, perhaps thinking, “until I get out of the house for a decent cup of coffee.” But in a fascinating twist, our leading lady also reserved a niche at a church! Not your average Sunday service though—imagine the gossiping that would ensue whenever her members find out she’s planned to ensure a little company for herself post-mortem.

“Maybe one day I will make the decision to place them there near the house,” she said. Because what better way to keep your loved ones close than having them literally in your backyard? It’s like the ultimate home security system. “You want in? You better have a good reason to disturb my son’s resting place!”

In the end, Maribel’s journey through grief is a reminder of the delicate balance of life, death, and the souvenirs we choose to leave behind—whether in the form of clothes, ashes, or perhaps an awkwardly knitted sweater from Grandma that still hangs in the closet. So, next time you find yourself chuckling through the tears (let’s face it, it happens), remember: every goodbye is just a cheeky prelude to an exhibition worth talking about.

Join the conversation about life, death, and cheeky anecdotes. Because let’s be honest, even in sorrow, we all need a good laugh—or at least a chuckle about the absurdities of it all.

In the midst of his grief, Maribel Guard has begun to part with some of his son’s belongings, Julian Figueroawho passed away in April 2023, while continuing to pay tribute to his memory. Something he spoke about in a recent meeting with the press, in which he revealed with complete sincerity the reason why he has decided to donate certain of his son’s objects so that they can be exhibited in the Joan Sebastian museum, which will open soon.

Visibly moved, the actress also revealed what belongings she got rid of to donate to the museum. “This year I gave away almost all of the show clothes that belonged to Joan Sebastian and Julián, I gave them to Joan’s museum, because I know that they are unique and unrepeatable garments and could be lost in the next generations,” explained the excited interpreter, in statements taken up by the program First-hand.

In that same sense, the interpreter was excited about the fact that her son’s belongings are part of the collection of this museum, through which they seek to pay tribute to the artist known as ‘The People’s Poet’, as well as like his entire legacy. “This museum is going to be for everyone at some point, when it opens, to be available to all its fans and followers,” he said.

Have you already made a decision about the final resting place of your son’s ashes?

After Julián’s departure, Maribel Guardia did not want to separate herself from her son’s ashes, because she believes that this way she feels closer to him. And although he has considered putting them in a special place, for now he prefers to keep them in his house. “I still have the ashes with me and maybe I will have them until the day I die, but I don’t know,” he said in the same meeting with the media.

However, the singer revealed that although she has not made a final decision on the matter, she already has a place reserved in a church, in case one day she believes it is necessary to deposit the remains of her only son there. “I already bought a niche in a church and maybe one day I will make the decision to go and place them there near the house, and the day I die they will put me there with Julián if God wants,” he concluded.
