As usual, the great tribute for Mimi Plessas will be held at Pallas

Last Saturday (5/20), exactly one week before celebrating 100 years of life, passed away Mimi Plessas. On the occasion of His 100th birthday which was on October 12a great tribute to the great musician was planned in Pallas, with the title “Mimis Plessas – 100: A tribute to the leading music composer”, edited by Giorgos Valaris.

Besides, Mimis Plessas, virtuoso pianist and conductor, versatile composer, had a brilliant career of seven decades, creating melodies and songs that left an era, in cinema and theater, he wrote jazz, opera and classical music. He also highlighted many great singers (Nana Mouschouri, Tzeni Vanou, Yiannis Poulopoulos, Stratos Dionysiou, Rena Koumiotis, etc.) and defined artistic and folk song with his great contribution to the discography as he also owns the most commercial Greek record ever released, “The Road“, in lyrics by Lefteris Papadopoulos, with 4,000,000 sales since 1969.

In the cinema, his songs with the insurmountable lyrics of the poet Lefteris Papadopoulos with whom they shared the greatest hits in the cinema, from “Moon on me”, “The knife hurt sweetly”, “So many summers”, “I will drink the moon tonight” “, “Open stone”, etc. they were identified with the brightest moments of Greek cinema and are loved and sung thousands of times even today.

The well-known creator Giorgos Valaris “marries” leading performers, singers and actors and “sets up” an anniversary musical tribute to the great music composer and his film songs, who passed away at the age of 100. Together with a multi-member live orchestra and conductor Antonis Gounaris, they will “travel” us to decades and eras that we loved and will always miss, and in this way the world, together with the artists, will say their own melodic “goodbye” to the beloved conductor !
