About ten minutes before, Bernardo Silva had opened the scoring with a superb volley from the head of Bruno Fernandes (26th).
Cristiano Ronaldo also had the opportunity to score a double but chose to show altruism by delivering a nice pass to Bruno Fernandes who ended up missing the goal.
Zielinski reduced the deficit in the 78th minute, but an own goal from Bednarek sealed the fate of the match two minutes from time. Polish striker Robert Lewandowski remained silent.
