Get Ready to Take the Leap: Online Portal to Go Live on June 30

From Friday 30 June 2023 until Thursday 3 August 2023, students will be able to submit an online application for the housing allowance, for the academic year 2022-2023.

It should be noted that in the case of spouses, who have submitted separate tax returns, the online application for the granting of the housing benefit is submitted by the only parent, beneficiary of the benefit, who must have declared all the children in the tax return for the tax year 2022 which are borne by him (dependent members), in order to properly formulate the financial criterion (an increase of 3,000 euros for each dependent child beyond one).

A necessary condition for the submission of the application is that the student, for whom the allowance is granted, must be a Greek citizen or a citizen of another country of the European Union, must hold a valid Academic ID and also hold an A.F.M.. It is clarified that the citizenship concerns only the person of the student and not his parents or guardians.

Online applications
As the Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs informs, those interested should visit the special housing benefit application. To log in to the online application, applicants will use the username and password granted to them by the AA .D.E. for TAXISnet’s online services.

The entry of passwords constitutes a declaration of consent to the cross-referencing of its elements. The applicant must fill in the following information in the respective fields of the application:
a) the student’s Academic ID number and AMKA,
b) the Tax Registration Number (A.F.M.) of the same, of the other parent (in the case of divorced, deceased or unmarried parents, the corresponding field remains blank) and of the student if the beneficiary is the parent, or only the A.F.M. of himself and his/her spouse in the event that the beneficiary is the student (in accordance with article 2 hereof),
c) the number of the electronic lease contract,
d) his bank account number (IBAN), patronymic, patronymic, DOU, as well as his contact information (telephone, e-mail).

In the case of cohabitation, the following must also be completed:

e) the Academic ID number of the roommate student,
f) the Tax Registry Number (TIN) of the roommate student,
g) A.F.M. of the person, as stated in the cohabiting student’s lease

In the event that, for any reason, the student does not have a valid Academic ID, then he submits an application for the grant of the allowance, after previously requesting and receiving his Academic ID. If the Academic ID has been canceled due to termination of student status (completion of studies, interruption of studies, etc.) then details of the last canceled Academic ID are taken into account and the authorized employee of the Institution certifies when confirming the academic criterion that the student had student status for the academic year 2022-2023.

It is clarified that students – citizens of European Union countries who declare that their parents are residents abroad and do not have AMKA, can submit an application with the number of the European Health Insurance Card (EKAA).

In cases where the beneficiary parent who is liable for a tax return died after the end of the tax year 2022 and his/her student/child belonged to him/her as a protected member, the spouse of the deceased should definitely submit his/her application on time. He then submits the application and the necessary supporting documents to the competent service of the Foundation and the Foundation, after confirming that the beneficiary belongs to this category, forwards the unique application submission number via e-mail: [email protected] to D/ Organizational and Academic Development, stating the relevant rationale.

Eligible students and supporting documents
In order to qualify the student as a beneficiary, the criteria are checked, depending on the case, as follows:
a) The student is orphaned by both parents: a family status certificate is submitted to the competent department of the Institution.
b) The student’s parents are foreign residents: a certificate of permanent residence of the student’s parents must be submitted to the competent department of the Institution. If any of the above is not verified, the authorized employee of the Foundation selects the corresponding field and the application is rejected.
c) The student is over 25 years old: it is checked electronically from the data of the Register of the Independent Public Revenue Authority. It applies to students born before 1-1-1997, who do not appear as dependents on their parents’ tax returns.
d) The student is obliged to submit a tax return and is not considered a dependent member in accordance with article 11 of Law 4172/2013 (A’ 167): it is checked by automatic interconnection – interoperability of the Information System for submitting applications with the files of the Independent Authority of Public Revenue.
