This is how a press release published Thursday by Taxi Gab+, the company responsible for managing the program’s brand new taxi network, opens. “1 Gabonese – 1 taxi”which sounds like a call to play down the images that have gone viral on social networks, relating to accidents and incidents reported over the last 48 years, immediately after the launch of the taxi activities of the said program by the president of the transition, Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguéma , its initiator.
For Taxi Gab+ “It is essential to specify that the damaged taxi had been lent to a citizen without a driving license by his older brother, the owner of the vehicle. We condemn this inappropriate use and recall that only the owners are authorized to drive said taxis”we recall.
As for another video, also widely shared on the web, showing another taxi from the project being pushed by passers-by, “After verification, we confirm that it was a fuel failure, quickly resolved, and that the taxi has resumed its service in the cities of Greater Libreville”tempers Taxi Gab+.
And the Coordination of this company reassures that all of the 417 taxis in the project have followed all the regulatory steps before being put into circulation. “In addition, all taxi owner-drivers are trained and hold a valid driving license, issued by the National Center for the Edition of Transport Documents (CNEDT), and have received specific training to adapt to the use of these vehicles,” we assure.

The transitional government announced that these 417 taxis put into circulation constitute the first cohort of the “1 Gabonese – 1 taxi” program expected to continue and expand within the country. These taxis will automatically return to ”young people” Gabonese buyers, thirty (30) months after operation, or two (2) and a half years, respecting the regime of a minimum payment of twenty thousand (20,000) CFA Francs per day.
