Shattered Paradise: Unraveling the Enigma of a Deadly Bus Collision

Never subjected to visits. Neither before he was hired, nor during his employment nor when he was promoted from the job of ticket collector to the certainly more delicate job of driver.

This is essentially what the doctor from the occupational health and hygiene service claimed during the hearing of the trial on the death of Emanuele Melillo. Melillo was the driver of the Capri Transport Company bus, the only victim of the road accident which occurred on 22 July 2021 on the island of Capri, where a bus with 25 people on board was crashed into a bathing establishment below the road he was traveling on.

The witness from the Naples prosecutor’s office actually pointed the finger at the violations found during the investigations delegated by the investigators to ascertain the level of safety at work in the transport company for which Melillo worked.

The testimonies

“A health surveillance practically non-existent“, commented the lawyer Giovanna Cacciapuoti, lawyer for Melillo’s parents, “which did not only concern poor Emanuele”.

During the next trial hearing scheduled for 12.30 on November 14, a toxicologist, the medical examiner and one of the passengers who were on the bus when the accident occurred will be heard as witnesses.
