On Wednesday, October 9, the first trial against Paulina Smaszcz, brought by her ex-husband, Maciej Kurzajewski, took place at the Warsaw-Praga District Court. The case concerns the violation of personal rights, which – in his opinion – was committed by Smaszcz. Although the journalist did not appear in court, his mother and sister testified.
Paulina Smaszcz, known as the “firecracker woman”, initially tried to avoid photojournalists. Pudelek even suggested that she was trying to hide behind her lawyer.
Our reporter, in turn, reports that the women gathered in the court corridor were accompanied by strong emotions. At one point, a tearful Paulina Smaszcz left the courtroom and went to the toilet. The reporter also reported that Smaszcz was supposed to have a conversation with Maciej’s sister, Małgorzata Kurzajewska-Zarinah, who stated aloud that she had heard threats and vulgarities from her. Unpleasant words were also said towards Smaszcz’s former mother-in-law, Teresa Kurzajewska.

Paulina Smaszcz and Maciej Kurzajewski were married for 23 years, but their relationship ended in a turbulent atmosphere. The ex-wife began publishing content on social media that could have negatively affected the reputation of the journalist and his new partner. Although Kurzajewski initially avoided public comments, his patience was tested after Smaszcz’s unannounced visit to his mother. According to the journalist’s account, his ex-wife broke into his house, causing stress to the elderly woman who is struggling with health problems.
In response to this incident, Kurzajewski filed a police report regarding an invasion of his property. The journalist and his partner also demanded a public apology from Paulina.
Maciej tolerated Paulina’s offensive comments for a long time, but eventually decided it was over. He was tired of how Smaszcz treated not only him, but also his loved ones, including his sons. (…) Together with Kasia, they hired the best lawyers and sent Paulina a letter demanding an apology and a cessation of further attacks. Kasia also sent her own separate letter. If Paulina does not apologize to them, the case will go to court – Pudelek’s informant claimed in 2022.
