Embers of Greatness: Rafael Nadal’s Enduring Blaze

The Spanish tennis player, at 38 years old, announced that he is retiring from tennis. More than two decades as a professional, with 92 titles in the Olympics, Grand Slam, Masters 1,000 and Davis Cup. In this last national team tournament he will say goodbye.

At the age of 16 he debuted in 2002. Then, at the age of 18 he played his first Olympic Games in Athens 2004 and from then on, the titles did not stop for one of the best in the history of world tennis.


His specialty was clay, but he achieved 32 consecutive victories on three different surfaces. Right-handed, but with a prodigious left foot to play with, his mentality and discipline made him a true legend.

He won 22 Grand Slam titles in 30 finals he played:

  • 14 Roland Garros: 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2010, 2011, 2013, 2014, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021 Y 2022


In 2005 the triumphs began in the Tournament played in Paris.

Olympics:

He participated in 4 Olympics. Athens 2004, Beijing 2008 in which he won the gold medal in singles, Rio 2016 gold in doubles and Paris 2024.


Nadal will say goodbye in the Davis Cup that will be played from November 19 to 24 of this year in Malaga, Spain. With the semifinal against the Netherlands, the tournament begins, which sold out the ticket office to see the local team.
