Padang’s War on Tuberculosis: How One City Conquered the Century-Old Scourge with Stunning Results

HARIANHALUAN.ID – Head of the Padang City Health Service, dr. Srikurnia Yati said that his party had succeeded in capturing 3,200 TB cases in Padang City. Where most people suffer from productive age 15 years and over.

“As of September 2024, 3,200 TB cases have been detected in Padang City. “We are proud that these cases can be opened, so they can be treated completely in 6 months,” he said when met by Haluan, Thursday (10/10).

Furthermore, he said that the recovery rate has now reached 89 percent.

“Some are in the process of treatment. We hope that no one DOes. “All of them completed treatment in 6 months,” he said.

The Padang City Health Service, he continued, continues to synergize with the community health centers and various health professions by intensively screening through active Saturday activities.

“We hope that as many city residents as possible who have complaints of coughing for more than 2 weeks, weight not rising, fever, will undergo screening. “So we can find wherever the cases are,” he said.

Through joint commitment, dr. Srikurnia believes that TB in Padang City can be eradicated 100 percent by providing complete treatment so that it does not infect others.

He also said that TB sufferers should not be embarrassed and cover up.

“TB disease does not have to be covered up. Must open up and be resolved. “Because TB is an infectious disease that can be prevented,” he explained.

One of the factors that influences TB is an unhealthy lifestyle such as smoking. (h/yes)
