Leaders Unite for a Unified Future: A Baltic Gathering Paves the Way for EU Integration in Eastern Europe

As reported by the Presidency, on the sidelines of the meeting of the European Political Community (EPC) in Granada, G. Nausėda, Volodymyr Zelenski, Maia Sandus and Iraklis Garibashvili also discussed the progress in carrying out reforms and implementing the recommendations of the European Commission.

At the meetings, the President emphasized that Lithuania firmly supports the European integration goals of all three countries, is ready to help with expert knowledge, and share experience.

Ukraine, Moldova and Sakartvel are in Europe. Citizens of these countries have repeatedly stated clearly that they want to live in free, democratic and prosperous states, that they want to be part of Europe. I believe that if these countries come together, they will be able to implement the necessary reforms and become full members of the EU”, said the president.

According to the Presidency, the Lithuanian leader expressed the hope that the progress made by the countries will allow negotiations on EU membership with Ukraine and Moldova to start this year, and to grant Sakartveli the status of a candidate country.

Last March, Sakartvel together with Moldova submitted applications for the status of candidates for the European Union. Ukraine also submitted such an application a little earlier.

In June 2022, EU member states granted this status to Ukraine and Moldova, but not to Sakartvel, stating that this country still needs to work.

Breaking‌ Down the European Political Community: A Forum⁣ for Unity and Reform

In a⁣ recent gathering in Granada, the European‍ Political Community (EPC) convened to discuss⁣ pressing issues‍ and shared goals among‌ its 47⁢ member countries.‍ As a prominent‍ forum,‌ the ⁤EPC brings together nations to coordinate responses to⁣ common challenges and foster a sense of unity across⁣ the continent. But what exactly⁢ is the European Political‌ Community, and what does this meeting signify for ⁢the future of European politics?

The EPC, as described by Bruegel [[1]], acts as a‍ bridge between non-EU countries ‌and the European Union, facilitating eventual membership or closer ties.⁢ This proposal, as‌ explained by the Institut Delors ⁣ [[3]], entails establishing a European political space beyond ⁢the EU, which may ‌constitute⁤ a first step towards membership.

On the ⁤sidelines of the EPC meeting in Granada, leaders such‍ as G. Nausėda, Volodymyr Zelenski, Maia Sandus, and Iraklis Garibashvili engaged in discussions on the ⁣progress of reforms and the⁤ implementation of recommendations from the ‌European Commission.‍ This indicates ‌that⁢ the EPC is not only a platform for discussion but also a catalyst for action, driving⁤ member countries to address shared concerns and work towards a common⁤ goal.

As the EPC continues to grow and evolve, its‌ significance in ‍European politics becomes increasingly evident. As noted by⁢ UK ⁣and‌ EU [[2]], the ‌EPC is a forum that brings together 47 European countries, making it a vital instrument for coordinating responses ‍to common issues.

The meeting in Granada signals a promising step forward for⁣ the⁢ EPC, demonstrating its ⁤potential to facilitate meaningful dialogue and ⁣drive progress among its ⁢member countries. ⁣As the European⁢ Political ⁤Community continues to⁢ mature, it is likely to ‌play an increasingly important role in shaping the future of European ⁢politics ⁣and fostering a sense ‍of unity among nations.

the European Political Community ⁤is more than just a gathering of nations; it is a forum for unity, reform, and progress. ‌As the ‍EPC continues to grow and evolve, it is likely to‍ remain a ‍vital instrument for shaping the future of European⁣ politics ⁤and driving progress among its member countries.
