Unlocking the Future of Production: SIG’s Groundbreaking Industry 4.0 Triumph

SIG won two awards from the Ministry of Industry. (SIG)

PT Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (SIG) and its subsidiary, PT Semen Gresik, succeeded in winning the 2024 INDI 4.0 Award from the Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) for the application of Industry 4.0-based technology to optimize production activities at the SIG factory in Tuban and the PT Semen Gresik factory in Rembang, which has proven successful in increasing achievement operational excellence Company.

The award was received by SIG Operations Director, Reni Wulandari and PT Semen Gresik Main Director Muchamad Supriyadi in Jakarta early last week.

SIG Operations Director Reni Wulandari expressed his gratitude to the Ministry of Industry for the INDI 4.0 2024 award given, as well as appreciation to the entire team at SIG and PT Semen Gresik who have been adaptive in technological transformation. This award is recognition of SIG’s success in carrying out the transformation towards Industry 4.0 as a whole.

“Implementation of Industry 4.0-based technology has proven successful in increasing productivity in production activities by using more efficient energy,” said Reni, quoted from information received on Sunday (6/10).

Not only contributing to cost efficiency and reducing emissions, Reni emphasized that the application of Industry 4.0 technology also helps in improving mining safety, so that SIG won the Adhitama Good Mining Practice award and the Best Predicate in the field of mining safety from the Ministry of Industry.

“Digitalization and automation in production activities is also part of SIG’s efforts to provide environmentally friendly building material products that are lower in carbon,” said Reni.

For information, SIG succeeded in winning the 2024 INDI 4.0 Award in the top Sustainable Technology category use case Operational Excellence & Sustainable Cement Plant through the application of technology Advanced Process Control by PXP, Quality Control by QCX Robolab, and Waste Heat Recovery Power Generation (WHRPG), based Artificial Intelligent, Machine Learning, Digital Mining Command, and Model Predictive Controlat the Tuban Factory, East Java.

On use case Operational Excellence & Sustainable Cement Plant at the Tuban Factory, SIG applies technology Advanced Process Control by PXP to support the stabilization and optimization of parameters in the cement production process. Technology that has been applied in the production process on raw mill 4 and finish mill 7 and 8 at the Tuban Factory, have proven successful in increasing production capacity by up to 8%, as well as reducing electrical energy consumption by up to 4 kWH/ton of cement.

“To maintain product quality, SIG applies technology Advanced Quality Control starting from automatic sampling, analysis and quality control processes using robots and machine learning. This technology has helped the Company in ensuring the quality of meal or raw materials for making slag and cement products in the slag factor reduction program (clinker factor) stay awake. “The application of this technology also contributed to reducing production costs by up to 4.3%,” explained Reni.
