Clash of the Titans: Rugby’s Greatest Rivalry Ignites as All Blacks Take on the Lions

In the very first match of the ICC Cricket World Cup, the defending champion England has been defeated by New Zealand.

These two are the same teams that met in the final of the 2019 World Cup and in a ‘controversial’ fashion England were declared the winners.

However, in the opening match of the World Cup 2023 in the biggest stadium in the world, apparently New Zealand has leveled the old score.

In the match to be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Thursday, New Zealand won the toss and invited an England team to bat first, in which the number eight player is also fully capable of batting.

But England started aggressively according to their thinking but then they could not sustain it.

England’s first wicket fell for a total score of 40 and half of its team had returned to the pavilion at a total of 188.

Thus, thanks to Joe Root’s half-century and captain Jazz Buttler’s 43 runs, England set New Zealand a target of 283 runs to win.

But on the contrary, the way New Zealand started the batting and carried it till the end must have shocked all the teams participating in the World Cup.

New Zealand’s first wicket fell on a total score of 10 only. Only one wicket fell.

Devon Conway and youngster Rachin Rondra who came in form from the Indian Premier League fought the English bowlers brilliantly and did not give them a single chance to come into the match.

Both the batsmen batted aggressively with great composure and did not let the score stand for a moment.

Devon Conway won the honor of scoring the first century of the World Cup 2023, while fellow batsman Rachin Rondra was not far behind and scored his first century in the World Cup.

The batting approach of both the batsmen can be gauged from the fact that New Zealand achieved the target of 283 runs in the 36th over despite the wicket falling on the total score of 10.

Thus, New Zealand has won two points in the World Cup by defeating England by nine wickets thanks to Conway’s 152 not out and Rachin Rondra’s unbeaten 123 runs.

Rachin Rondra was adjudged Man of the Match for his aggressive batting.

The second match of ICC Cricket World Cup will be played between Pakistan and Netherlands in Hyderabad on Friday.
