Bolivian folk music singer Luzmila Carpio was selected as a candidate for For Your Grammy Consideration (FYC) 2024 at the Grammy Awards for her latest album Inti Watana: The Return of the Sun. The production will compete in the Best Global Music Album and Best Immersive Audio Album categories.

“This first step is already a recognition of the tribute that this album represents to our ancestral, Amazonian and Andean roots, and to the unbreakable strength of Pachamama,” the artist announced from her social networks.

“This important step would not be possible without the love and support of all of you, who have accompanied every note along this path. I sincerely thank everyone who has collaborated on this project and who has helped weave this musical offering to the world. Especially to Grant Dull and his formidable ZZK team, to Leo, my sound accomplice and musical producer of this album,” he added in a post.

Over the decades, Carpio released more than 25 albums and was defined as one of the most prolific indigenous singers in South America by Rolling Stones magazine.

Your album You are Watanamade together with Argentine producer Leonardo Martinelli, combines Latin American folk rhythms and modern electronics with Luzmila’s voice, which is accompanied by different traditional instruments from around the world.

The singer’s son and producer of the album, Joel Flores Carpio, explained: “From the beginning, I decided as a producer to bet on an innovative sound in You are Watanaand we risk with a mix in dolby atmos (surround sound), this being the first Andean music album of its kind with this technology. “It is an honor to be part of this historic moment for our music.”

The award will be presented on November 14 during the Latin Grammy gala to be held at the Kaseya Center in Miami. The nominees for the Latin Grammy 2024 were announced on September 17, 2024. Names such as Shakira, Karol G, Bad Bunny, Ángela Aguilar, Peso Pluma and Kali Uchis stand out.
