What is StarDance for you?
In any case, this is the family silverware of Czech Television. It is one of the most popular shows and a tradition that I believe we will maintain for a very long time. This year’s thirteenth season will bring an interesting line-up of dancers, and we are curious how it will entertain our viewers and who they will choose as the winner. Because that’s always drama.
It is clear from the previous lines that the absolute precision of the dance does not always play a role. Undoubtedly, the personal sympathy of individual dancers plays a role. It’s always chemistry that is born on set. So, among other things, I’m excited about how the selection of dancers for that year will appeal to the audience as well.

At the same time, I would say that in the Czech Republic, thanks to Czech Television, StarDance is also connected with the incredible solidarity of TV viewers. For the seventh time, the competition will have a charity evening.
It will take place on the twenty-third of November. As always, it will be linked to the Umbrella Center. For six previous charity evenings, we collected over 100 million crowns for him, which is an incredible amount. Last year, we broke the record when twenty-five million crowns were collected during the evening. We’ll see if we can raise the bar this year as well.
I have a hunch that it could be successful, because when we organized a benefit concert to help people affected by floods, over forty-two million crowns were collected during it. So, I believe that on the twenty-third of November, we will raise the bar of people’s solidarity in our country a little further.

How long do you still have the purchased StarDance license for?
The license is always purchased for two series. This means that at this moment we will discuss the use of the option, because part of the contract is the exclusive right of Czech Television to be the one to buy the next StarDance series for the Czech Republic.
Does StarDance belong on public television screens?
If you look at the birth certificate of the competition, which in Britain is called Let’s Dance, you will find that it is a program developed by the British public television BBC and sold to many countries around the world. In some countries it is broadcast by a public broadcaster and in some countries, such as Slovakia, it is broadcast by commercial television.
But if you look at the character of the individual programs, you will find that even the reception of that program by public broadcasters has a slightly different character after all.

And if you then think about how StarDance works in the Czech Republic, there is undoubtedly an overlap of public law. Because this program, precisely because of its qualities, has a huge ability not only to cultivate the environment, i.e. by building the relationship of our viewers to classical or Latin American dance and music, but at the same time it appeals to viewers across age categories and across socio-economic categories.

Due to the fact that the competition is watched by people from the smallest villages to the big cities, it has a huge integration potential. Because if there is something missing in society today, it is the ability of individual groups of residents to find common topics that they do not argue about, but on the contrary, that they enjoy together. And StarDance undoubtedly has this potential.
