At the Patras Philharmonic Society Conservatory, all the schools and departments defined by the legislation of the Ministry of Culture operate. Some courses have already started since September and the rest will start in early October.
Also, during the year, those interested can start courses in an institution of their choice, as the studies are divided into two semesters.
The established departments of piano, guitar, violin, wind instruments, classical and modern singing, classical and modern percussion, compulsory and special higher theory courses in music, conducting, harmonium, electric guitar, systematically follow the detailed curricula corresponding to each separately.
Special classes, which do not follow the Curriculum of the Ministry of Culture, come every year and complement the studies by offering a holistic knowledge of Music.
Starting with the Baby Music section (every Monday 18.00-19.00, for ages 8 months to 2.5 years), with the “Little Pianists” in the section Piano Junior (every Wednesday, group section for ages 4 to 6) and our Choirs.
The Children’s Choir, in which the parents sing together with their children (every Monday 19.00-20.00) and the Adolescent-Youth Choir (every Wednesday 19.30-20.30). These vocal forms come to complement singing classes for children with learning difficulties and speech issues, and the preparation of candidates, regarding the Vocal Art, for admission to the music classes (through national examinations) and to the Higher Schools of Dramatic Art.
Also the ORFF Music and Movement Education departments, counting over two decades, in our Conservatory, they offer young children (ages 3 to 8) opportunities to develop skills – communication, creativity, collaboration and critical thinking, without study or preparation. The large selection of pitched percussion instruments and instruments with detachable bars (all purchased from Studio 49, Gräfelfing, Germany) is supplemented each year by the children’s improvised instruments.
The classical percussion school it is made up of all the percussion instruments that a Symphony Orchestra has. All our students participate two or three times a year in concerts organized in our wonderful Concert Hall. Seminars, Competitions and Concerts complete our work and continue a tradition… of 132 years of music offering in our city.
