Perfect Harmony on Ice: Beune and Groot Unite for a Dazzling Performance

When two well-known home-grown skating toppers do a shoot without a skating suit, our attention is of course triggered. Joy Beune and Robin Groot came up with this beautiful photo shoot. We met Joy a few years ago, because in 2020 she was voted Most Beautiful Sportswoman in the Netherlands at the FHM500. That was her first real professional photo shoot and it was immediately clear to us that she was a natural talent.

Robin Groot

We don’t know her teammate Robin Groot very well yet. The 23-year-old brunette from Alkmaar is a teammate of Joy Beune. Just like Joy, Robin also became world junior champion. Unlike Joy, Robin is not yet in the FHM500, but that will undoubtedly change in 2025.

The two are not only teammates at Team IKO X20, they are also good friends. That gave them the idea to do a photo shoot together with a photographer Lotte Lawant. ‘Endless fun with you’, is written in the accompanying caption. Joy’s friend, skating champion Kjeld Nuis, is also impressed, given his comments. Only logical, because the result is impressive.

Joy Beune

A year ago we spoke to Joy Beune in detail about her career in our podcast FHM’s Women at the Top. In it she talked about, among other things, her switch to another skating team. “I didn’t really feel seen. In such a large team there is always someone who wins gold and they get the attention. Was it frustrating that I couldn’t get the most out of it? Yes, very bad. That’s why you become less motivated and you think ‘it will all work out’. At a certain point I thought: I also want to be seen, so I have to skate fast now. But you have to do it for yourself.” That switch turned out to be a bull’s eye, because last winter she was crowned world all-round champion.
