Saudi Arabia – The Saudi Ministry of Sports announced, yesterday, Tuesday, that the Kingdom will host the Italian Super Cup competitions in its new edition in Riyadh from 2 to 6 January 2025, with the participation of 4 clubs, for the fifth time in its history.
The Ministry said through its official account on the “X” platform: “A date with the fun of competing in the Italian Super Cup, for the fifth time, the Italian Super Cup in Riyadh, from January 2 to January 6, 2025.”
Four clubs are participating in the tournament: Inter Milan, “champion of the Italian League,” AC Milan, “runner-up of the last edition of the league,” Juventus, “champion of the Italian Cup,” and Atalanta, “runner-up of the Cup.”
Riyadh hosted the last edition in January 2024, and witnessed Napoli defeating Fiorentina 3-0 and Inter Milan defeating Lazio with the same score in the semi-finals, before Inter defeated Napoli with a 1-0 victory in the final.
Saudi Arabia is hosting this event for the fifth time, having previously hosted it in 2018, 2019, 2022 and 2024. With the exception of the last edition, the tournament was held between the winners of the league and cup titles before the system was amended to increase the number of teams to 4.
Juventus is the club that has won the Italian Super Cup the most, with 9 times, followed by Milan and Inter Milan, 7 times, and Lazio, 5 times.
