The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced this Saturday that they carried out an attack in the Jabaliya area, in the north of the Gaza Strip, against the Hamas group, in a communication through its Telegram channel.
“The command and control center was integrated into a complex that previously served as a center for the United Nations Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), (and now) was used by Hamas terrorists to plan and execute terrorist attacks against IDF troops and the State of Israel,” the institution said.
Since the escalation of the conflict, Israel has accused UNRWA of collaborating with Hamas, prompting 118 countries, including the United States, to decide to freeze its funding.
But last July, more than a hundred countries considered granting funds to UNRWA again. The United States, however, will not be able to do so until 2025, due to express prohibition by Congress.
It should be noted that last week, the head of the United Nations Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNWRA), Philippe Lazzarini, once again rejected the campaign against the image of this institution by Israel.
Next October 7 will mark one year since the Hamas attack on Israel in which 1,200 Israelis died and another 251 were kidnapped – of which 97 remain in the hands of the armed group – which triggered an intense Israeli offensive against Gaza in which has already killed nearly 42,000 people, most of them women and children.
