Mystery Tenant Awaits: Fortuna-Büdchen’s Timeless Charm Endures

Anyone who likes to enjoy an after-work beer at the Fortuna-Büdchen or regularly meets up with friends there should be able to continue doing so in the coming year. According to an expert from the industry, the Fortuna-Büdchen will remain intact, but there will be a change of tenant at the turn of the year.

The Fortuna-Büdchen has been run by the Meffe family for almost 20 years. On October 8, 2024, the operators announced that their lease would be terminated at the end of the year. From January 1st, 2025, the Fortuna-Büdchen will apparently continue to operate without the Meffe family. The future of the Büdchen concerns many people in our city.

Petition for the preservation of the little stand

A petition to preserve the booth garnered 15,000 signatures in less than 24 hours. Many people fear that the special atmosphere at Fortuna-Büdchen could be lost. There is now also a second petition that literally calls for “intervention by Düsseldorf politicians”.

Statement from Mayor Stephan Keller

Mayor Stephan Keller spoke again about the Fortuna-Büdchen on the Antenne Düsseldorf microphone today.

The statement in full:

We really need to work through what exactly happened. There was obviously a bit of a conflict here, somehow between those involved on site. We have to see how we as a city can perhaps moderate what we can do. In any case, we will do everything we can to ensure that the people of Düsseldorf can continue to drink their beer at the Fortuna Büdchen and enjoy this wonderful place in Düsseldorf.
