Infrastructure development in Indonesia has provided real benefits to society. One of the achievements that can now be enjoyed is the ease of travel access between Jakarta and Bandung. With the operation of the Jakarta-Bandung Fast Train, the travel time between these two big cities is now only 30 minutes.

The Director General of Information and Public Communication (IKP) of the Indonesian Ministry of Communication and Information, Prabu Revolution, stated that the infrastructure built by the government of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has brought changes, especially in terms of ease of transportation.

“This progress not only makes mobility easier, but also plays a role in increasing economic efficiency in the region,” he said at the West Merdeka Forum 9 (FMB9) with the theme One Decade of Leading Indonesia, More Than 70% of the Public is Satisfied, Friday (4/10).

Progress in infrastructure development such as the Jakarta-Bandung Fast Train is not only felt in Java. Outside Java, people can also feel equitable development. Prabu said that President Jokowi’s development policy which focused on the Indonesia-centric concept had succeeded in having a positive impact on regions outside Java.

“This development ensures that economic growth is not only concentrated in Java, but also spread throughout Indonesia. This can be seen in Papua. Prices of goods are now equivalent to prices in the center, thanks to improved infrastructure and better transportation access,” he added.

This achievement is one of the reasons why public satisfaction with Jokowi remains high. According to the results of the Kompas Research and Development survey, the level of public satisfaction with President Jokowi increased to 75%, with a trend that has continued to increase in the last few months.

Not only in the transportation sector, development in the Jokowi era has also brought transformation in the digital sector. Prabu said that Indonesia’s internet connectivity has increased in the last decade.

“Ten years ago, our internet speed was only 2.4 Mbps. Now, the speed reaches 25 Mbps. This allows us to carry out various online activities, such as virtual meetings, distance learning and other productive activities more easily,” he explained.

Jokowi’s infrastructure development and digital transformation are often received with skepticism at first. However, Prabu emphasized that Jokowi’s leadership style, which tends not to be populist, has proven to produce real results.

“Some policies may be contrary to public perception, but he continues to pursue them until they come to fruition, and in the end the benefits are felt directly by the community. This is one of the reasons why lower to middle class people are still satisfied with his performance,” concluded Prabu.

With development becoming more evenly distributed and real benefits felt directly by the community, it is not surprising that the level of public satisfaction with Jokowi continues to increase. Achievements such as the Jakarta-Bandung Fast Train are just one example of how development in the Jokowi era has had a positive impact on society. (Ant/N-2)
