CHAIRMAN of the All Indonesian Athletics Association (PASI) DKI Jakarta Mustara Musa revealed that many records were created in athletics when the 2024 PON was held in Aceh-North Sumatra. According to him, there were nine national records in athletics and 18 PON records that emerged. This means that athletics has developed well in the country.
“Sports development in Indonesia, especially athletics, mother of sport, the main branch in the modern Olympics is growing in Indonesia. “It’s proven by breaking records,” he said, Friday (4/10).
Regarding PON 2024, Musara said that his party was satisfied with the facilities provided. A good venue is proven to be able to produce new records.

“We and several provinces were placed in the Hotel Wing, only 200 meters from the venue. Athletics track, the best one is a record breaking parameter because the track is good and new. “On the other hand, the readiness of the committee needs to be improved, and the increase in technical human resources in the field also needs to be improved,” he said.
In the future, Mustara agrees that the central government will take a bigger role in holding the 2028 PON in NTB/NTT.
“The central government taking over all implementation processes can be better. However, we also need to think about regional friends, there are sports whose technical readiness is still lacking. “This is a difficulty for friends in the regions,” he said.

“However, I view the implementation of PON as a form of standard distribution of sports facilities or venues. “For example, Jakarta already has all the facilities, but what we also have to think about is how local friends should also get the same opportunity to be able to enjoy the process of implementing this sport,” he said.
There needs to be synergy and communication between regional governments and the central government. Regional governments must be honest about what they lack and need assistance from the central government.
“There is a good example, PASI NTB contacted me, saying, ‘Pak Mus, please help because we will be hosting the PON. What do you think should be done?’ “In order to prepare from the start, they invited me,” he said.

“The main thing in my opinion is the commitment of branch administrators in the regions first. Then the sports administrators at the center will compensate. What percentage of human resource strength is in the region? “Those at the center are ready to help,” he said.
He also suggested that NTB and NTT build PON facilities from now on. Don’t build facilities or venues several months before implementation.
“If it is built early then it is good. “NTB and NTT must start holding national championships there as a form of pre-event training,” he said. (Z-6)
