When I heard that The Voice of Holland would return to TV, I was stunned and shocked. How is it possible that such a program returns after so much fuss? Transgressive behavior has caused a stir in several (TV) programs since the BOOS program. The broadcast was decisive for women because they are now more likely to dare to open their mouths. Especially because the subject is still taboo.

“It must be your fault,” you are told when you find yourself in such a situation. Women dress (too?) sexy and apparently a man is allowed to do so. Is that the norm of society or has it arisen because we have kept our mouths shut for too long about what is permissible?

I have also experienced (including after online stalking) how difficult it is to talk about such situations. You feel ashamed and think you brought it on yourself. The position you are in and your understanding of your environment can determine whether or not you open your mouth.

The fact that a program like The Voice of Holland threatens to return to TV is therefore unacceptable to me. There are still too many unfinished issues and victims associated with the program. The fact that the program is a ‘good format’ in other countries does not diminish the pain and disappointment surrounding the TV show. We still have a long way to go on this subject, for more respect towards women!
