Unlocking a Love of Reading: 66,978 Reasons to Celebrate the Power of Shared Knowledge

The Ministry of Social Cohesion and Family with the supervised Organization of Welfare Allowances and Social Solidarity (OPEKA), informs that on Monday 7/10/2024 at 12:00, the redistribution of the unused Books of the Free Book Delivery Program for the year 2024 will begin.

Unavailable books: 66,978

A priority order of attendance is followed at the bookstores and publishing houses contracted with LAE/OPEKA, for those beneficiaries who submitted an application to participate in the program and were not drawn, including the drawn beneficiaries who did not receive their books until 30/09/2024.

To receive the free books, beneficiaries should know the following:

The personal presence of the beneficiary is required, who must have with him:

The Social Security Registration Number (SIN) of and
The Police Identification Card.

In the event that the beneficiary is unable to receive the books in person, the receipt can be made by a third party, who must have, in addition to the above supporting documents, an authorization with the beneficiary’s signature considered to be genuine from any public authority. In order to receive the provision of free books, the authorization is delivered to the bookstores or publishing houses contracted with the LAE/OPEKA.

Only books are allowed to be selected and no other items.

LAE/OPEKA subsidizes the companies participating in the program with a maximum amount of 20.00 euros, per beneficiary, which corresponds to the price of the book(s), after a 10% discount has been deducted.

The discount is calculated on the retail price listed in the book. In addition, LAE/OPEKA subsidizes books for each child beneficiary of LAE with the amount of 30.00 euros. In the event that the price of the book or books (including the 10% discount) exceeds the amount of 20.00 or 30.00 euros respectively, the additional difference shall be paid by the beneficiary, without any obligation of LAE/OPEKA.
