The risk analyst Corelogic has revised its estimate of the total insured losses from Hurricane Helene upwards significantly: after initially estimating up to $5 billion, the US company now estimates between $10.5 and $17.5 billion. The new estimate now also takes into account the damage that the state flood insurance program NFIP covers. Moody’s RMS also has a double-digit figure. Meanwhile, the next hurricane, “Milton,” is heading toward the southeastern United States – reinsurance brokers Guy Carpenter and Howden Re fear “significant impacts.”
