Darkness in the Danube: A Haunting Confession Unfolds in Linz

In the afternoon, the state police headquarters initially confirmed the discovery of a male corpse that “had massive injuries.” According to initial information, a 45-year-old reported the incident to a police station in Linz: there was a body in his apartment in Favoritn’s Sonnwendviertel.

The well-known Viennese was initially taken into police custody. In the late afternoon he was on his way to the federal capital, where he was to be questioned later on Monday.

The WEGA special unit opened the Vienna apartment and found the dead man. The traces point to foul play. According to a police spokesman, the victim had massive injuries all over his body, including his head. Media reported an ax that was found in the apartment.

According to media reports, the 45-year-old is said to have acted while high on drugs. After the crime, he made his way to his sister in Upper Austria. There he ultimately went to a police station.

The State Criminal Police Office is now investigating a possible violent crime. The identity of the victim is still under investigation. There was no further information available about the perpetrator at the moment. The apartment was opened in the afternoon examined by forensics officers.
