Mérida Electrifies Crowd in Thrilling Stage I of Tour of Venezuela

Mérida dressed festively and colorfully for the dispute of the first stage of the Vuelta a Venezuela 61, an event that took place in the Andean entity thanks to the efforts and support of Governor Jehyson Guzmán.

With 76 riders, the first stage was developed with 109 kilometers, starting in a controlled manner from Las Banderas Park (Andrés Bello Avenue) and ending in Plaza Bolívar, in the center of the capital of Emeritus, resulting in David González, from the team, as the winner. Team Medellín, with a time of 2 hours, 17 minutes and 55 seconds; Second place, 6 seconds away, went to Luis Mora (Bolivarian Government of Trujillo) and Julian Cardona (Team Medellín) closed the podium, 37 seconds away.

Governor Jehyson Guzmán, at the end of the stage, highlighted that he was very happy to have this important event in Mérida, with a route that included the city center with a very demanding level that was experienced with great joy by the spectators.

Four foreign teams participate in this important calapédic event: Team Medellín, Team Gesprom Evolución, JB Ropa de Ciclismo Café La Roca (Colombia) and Team Saitel from Ecuador; while Venezuela has ten teams, among which is the Mérida Government – ​​Libertador Mayor’s team with three riders.
