“Marie Catches Fire” fans can look forward to further episodes of the series from October 10th. Actress Christine Eixenberger promises drama.
Dortmund – The series “Marie Catches Fire” took a break for two years. The ZDF format continues on television on October 10, 2024 at 8:15 p.m. It is already known that the main character in “Marie Catches Fire” has to deal with a separation. But it gets even more dramatic.
“Marie Catches Fire”: Actress Eixenberger reveals details about new episodes
As actress Christine Eixenberger reveals in an interview with RUHR24, there are serious changes for her role. She has played the main character Marie Reiter since the beginning of the series. There is a mix of action and emotions in the four new episodes. “And in my opinion that is also the strength of ‘Marie Catches Fire’,” says Eixenberger. “I especially find the episode ‘Departure into the Unknown’ very valuable and important on an emotional level.”
In general, the new episodes are about socially relevant topics. “And the season finale is my favorite: the episode “Heat Wave” deals with the topic of forest fires. “Marie is taking a special path here to get control of the fire,” says Eixenberger. “I’m very excited to see how the audience reacts to it.”
“Marie Catches Fire” on ZDF: The main character serves as a role model
Aside from the emotions, action and plot, the character Marie would serve as a role model. “I think many people don’t realize that the fire department could be interesting for them – especially women,” says Eixenberger. “In my opinion, the role of Marie shows that the fire service is relevant and interesting across genders.”
If just a few people, especially women, wanted to get involved in the fire department through “Marie Catches Fire,” it would be tantamount to a “jackpot.” In Germany, the proportion of women in the professional fire brigade is around 10 percent. “There is still room for improvement,” says Eixenberger (read more TV news at RUHR24).
“Marie Catches Fire” on ZDF: Eixenberger receives positive feedback from families
Eixenberger, who also appears as a cabaret artist, often enters into dialogue with her audience. “Families with young girls often talk to me after the show and say they would like to join the fire department,” says Eixenberger. “They want to get involved, they want to join the youth fire brigade – in the best case scenario, they will stick with it.”
The series “Marie Catches Fire” has been around since 2016 and appears on television at irregular intervals. The new episodes are already available online in the ZDF media library.
