On Friday, October 4, Polish Radio PiK reported sad news about the death of journalist Bartosz Kustra.
“After a long and serious illness, Bartosz Kustra, a journalist of Polish Radio PiK, our friend and colleague, died. He was a reporter and sports journalist who devoted his life to working on the radio. Sport was his passion… Goodbye, Bartek…” – it was written in the message.
Bydgoszcz. Sports journalist Bartosz Kustra has died
Bartosz Kustra was born on May 28, 1982. He was a graduate of the 4th Secondary School in Bydgoszcz and political science at the Kazimierz Wielki University. He joined the Polish Radio Broadcasting Station in Bydgoszcz in 2001. At first, he worked with the sports editorial office, and soon became a full-time journalist of this department.
“He mainly commented on speedway and basketball matches. His emotional and thrilling broadcasts from Grand Prix tournaments throughout Europe, as well as speedway duels of teams from Bydgoszcz, Grudziądz and Toruń, will always remain in our memory,” we read on the website of Polish Radio PiK.
In 2019, Bartosz Kustra received the award of the Marshal of the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship for “outstanding sports activities and promotion of the region”.
At the end of 2020, the journalist received a terrible diagnosis – brain cancer. It was then that he appeared on Polish Radio PiK for the last time.
Speedway clubs also reacted to the death of Bartosz Kustra.
“After a long and serious illness, Bartosz Kustra passed away.
