The Indonesian junior team successfully advanced to the final match of the 2024 Suhandinata Cup. This result was achieved after winning over Japan in the semifinals.
Held at Nanchang Nanchang International Sports Friday (4/10) afternoon, the Young Red-White squad faced stiff resistance from the Land of the Rising Sun. Mutiara Ayu Puspitasari and friends were forced to work hard before finishing the match with a score of 110-105.
In the first three matches, Indonesia was quite dominant. Isyana Syahira Meida/Rinjani Kwinara Nastine, Moh Zaki Ubaidillah and Darren Aurelius/Bernadine Anindya Wardana put Indonesia ahead by 10 points, 33-22.

“Thank God I was able to win the match but it wasn’t a landslide on points. I was surprised and there was a different pressure from yesterday. Maybe because this was the semifinals,” said Ubed, Moh Zaki Ubaidillah’s nickname, in his statement, Friday (4/10).
Entering the fourth match, Japan slowly recovered. Mutiara and Dexter Farrell/Wahyu Agung Prasetyo were barely able to stop it. Japan reduced the score to 55-51.
Isyana/Rinjani played again in match number six, this time facing women’s doubles mainstays Ririna Hiramoto/Aya Tamaki. Once tense, Isyana/Rinjani finally widened the gap again to 66-59.

“There was tension when we entered the field in the second half. This opponent was the same age as us and the points were tight. But we tried to control ourselves to relieve the tension,” said Isyana.
Japan did not just give up. They keep trying to overtake the points but every time they get close, Indonesia always has a way to get away again.
“Today was not an easy opponent. I want to thank all my colleagues on the team,” said Mutiara.

“As captain, I was moved because I saw all of their struggles on the field. I was proud to be part of a team that really wanted to fight together,” said Mutiara.
The final victory was determined by the men’s doubles Anselmus Breagit Fredy Prasetya/Pulung Ramadhan after defeating Kenta Matsukawa/Yuto Nakashizu.
“Certainly happy and proud to be able to be the decider,” explained Pulung.

In the final match, Indonesia was waiting for host China. This will be a repeat of the 2023 Suhandinata Cup final which was held in Spokane, United States.
