A total of ten names of candidates for members of the Supervisory Board (Dewas) of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) have been bagged by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi). Komika Kiky Saputri’s father-in-law, Gusrizal, is considered the strongest figure to choose.
“I predict that he is one of the strong candidates to become KPK Dewas,” said former KPK investigator Yudi Purnomo Harahap to Medcom.id, Friday, October 4 2024.
Yudi said the assessment was based on Gusrizal’s background as a judge. It is believed that he already knows how to conduct an ethics trial if he is elected as a member of the KPK Council.

“Gusrizal himself is a judge, of course he understands his duties as a member of the Dewas, because one of his duties is to hear cases related to ethics,” said Yudi.
Yudi agrees with Gusrizal’s controversial statement during the interview test. Kiky Saputri’s in-laws want to carry out restorative justice or not take issue with the petty polemic at the KPK.
However, it is believed that this wish will not come true if he is elected. This is because the openness system in the KPK Council is very strong because it is regulated by law.

“I think that the opinion that there is no need to raise or publish regarding ethical issues, I think that’s his personal opinion, but the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has implemented openness all this time,” said Yudi.
Yudi reminded Gusrizal not to insist on his statement if he wanted to be elected. Because public transparency is an obligation for the Corruption Eradication Commission and the Dewas.
“Then, related to the fact that ethical issues at the KPK do not need to be raised or published in the media in order to maintain the goodwill of the KPK, I think that is the wrong thing, because the KPK, one of the things in the KPK Law is transparency, yes, openness,” explained Yudi .

In the interview test, Gusrizal said that not all ethical violations at the KPK had to be published. His statement was made in order to maintain the reputation of the Anti-Corruption Agency.
This information was given by Gusrizal when undergoing an interview test as a member of the KPK Dewas. He was questioned about efforts to restore public trust in the Anti-Corruption Agency.
“To maintain the KPK’s morals, not all (ethical violations) must be exposed to the public,” said Gusrizal at the Ministry of State Secretariat (Kemensetneg) Office, Jakarta, Thursday, September 19 2024.
According to Gusrizal, this attitude does not mean that the KPK Council is protecting Anti-Corruption Agency employees who violate ethics. But, he said, it was intended to maintain the good name of the agency. (Can/M-4)
