From player to coach and then to sports director: This is actually a common process that often occurs in the football world. In the case of Andreas Michl, the cycle was recently reversed again: the actual sports director of the Landesliga West club Schärding stepped in as coach after the separation from Holger Stemplinger in the 5-0 defeat in Gschwandt – before in the most recent 3-1 -Success in the derby against Esternberg even stood between the posts again. “My career so far has often not been normal,” says the 44-year-old with a smile.
Regarding his comeback on the pitch, he says: “I was asked whether I could step in again until winter. In the current phase, our young team needs a certain stability.”
The triple burden – as player, coach and sports director – should be a thing of the past. “I was asked whether I would be available as a player-coach. In addition to the position of sports director, that is no longer an option in this league.” A new coach has already been found in Ernst Kriegner.
SC celebrates derby victory
In the east, 750 fans saw SC Marchtrenk win 3-2 in the derby against Viktoria Marchtrenk. Adam Kensy’s team turned a 0-1 deficit into a 3-1 lead before the break. After a 0-1 deficit, league leaders Oedt 1b also came back: Eferding had led the Traun team, and coach Herbert Panholzer’s team really turned up the heat in the second half and won 6-1.
