Israel’s President to Iranians and Lebanese: “Stand up”

Herzog told Al-Arabia channel: “I call on the Lebanese people, the Iranian people, the people of all oppressed nations in the region to stand up and understand that if we move this evil empire, if we confront it , can certainly hope for a better future.”

Herzog spoke of the possibility of a NATO-like structure in the region “that blocks radicalism.” In the current war, Israel is trying to “change the equation and bring hope to the people of the Middle East,” Herzog said, emphasizing: “We are all children of Abraham.”

A few days ago, Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed the Iranians with a video message in English broadcast on social media and appealed: “Don’t let a small group of fanatical jihadists shatter your hopes and dreams.”

Meanwhile, the Lebanese Ministry of Education has postponed the start of the school year to the beginning of November. Public schools, secondary schools and vocational training institutions will begin classes on November 4th, said Acting Education Minister Abbas Halabi, according to a report by the state news agency NNA. “We insist not to waste the school year, no matter how great the difficulties,” he said at a news conference.

Schools as emergency shelters

Public schools in areas not affected by the heavy Israeli attacks on Hezbollah are currently serving as emergency shelters for hundreds of thousands of displaced people from southern Lebanon, the Bekaa Valley and the southern suburbs of Beirut. According to government figures, over a million people in Lebanon have been displaced as a result of Israeli attacks.
