According to a publication of the newspaper Ta Nea, for the first time in recent years the specific provision is not foreseen, which in 2024 was at the level of 150 euros for each beneficiary. The punctuality check (emergency allowance) will be paid before 20 December 2024. It will affect around 1,900,000 citizens, with the list including pensioners with personal difference balances excluded from the new increases in January, families with disabled children, uninsured seniors , but also thousands of other vulnerable people.
Who will not receive the emergency Christmas gift
Those who have a personal difference, as well as those who have a combined main pension of more than 1,400 euros and are burdened with the Solidarity Contribution (EAS), will remain without a pension increase in the new year. It should be emphasized that at the end of October it is expected to “lock in” the percentage of the pension increase for 2025, as then the data on inflation and the growth rate of the Greek economy will be available.
The accusations
The two other categories, according to Ta Nea, of pensioners who will not receive an increase for 2025 are the following:
Solidarity contribution: Those pensioners who have a Solidarity Contribution reservation – EAS (applies to those with a gross main pension of more than 1,400 euros) will not receive even in 2025 the 2.5% increase that the government will give to other pensioners.
Personal difference: In the first ten days of December 2024, the personal difference allowance of between 100 and 200 euros will be paid to eligible pensioners. The big losers are the old pensioners before 2024 who will only get the Personal Difference Allowance as they won’t even get the 2.5% increase for the new year like other pensioners.
