‘Fruit of labour’: Pakistan wheelchair cricket team wins Asia Cup

The players of the Pakistan wheelchair cricket team, who won the T20 Asia Cup 2023 by defeating Sri Lanka in the capital of Kathmandu, Nepal, say that they came with the intention of winning after preparing hard.

Pakistan wheelchair cricket team has won the Asia Cup title for the second time by defeating Sri Lanka in a match played in Kathmandu on Monday (October 9).

Speaking to his family on video call after the match, player Ahmed Yar said that he had worked hard and had come with full preparation. ‘Allah has given the fruit of this (labor).’

On the other hand, President of Pakistan Wheelchair Cricket Council Rukhsana Rajput said that the players came after working hard that we have to win and go as champions.

If we talk about the match, Pakistan had given a target of 215 runs to Sri Lanka while batting first.

Pakistan’s Umar Gul scored 95 runs and Muhammad Adnan 66 runs and thus the two had a partnership of 140 runs.

The Sri Lankan batsmen started the game, but the Pakistani bowlers did not let them play and the whole team was bundled out by scoring 113 runs.

Pakistani bowler Umar Gul took four wickets and was declared man of the match.

Sri Lankan player Karuratana was awarded ‘Man of the Series’ for his outstanding performance during the tournament.

Similarly, the best fielder award was given to Pakistan’s Isil Khan.

The best bowler award was given to Muhammad Fayyaz while Muzin Nawaz was recognized as the best wicket keeper.

Earlier, Pakistan had defeated traditional rivals India by 38 runs and knocked them out of the tournament.

Pakistan also co-hosted the event in Kathmandu.
