González Urrutia is honored at an international forum in Spain

The Venezuelan opposition leader Edmundo González Urrutia received this Thursday the tribute of those attending the La Toja-Vínculo Atlántico Forum held in O Grove (Spain), where he will speak on Friday on the second day of this event.

According to The CarabobeñoGonzález was present in the dialogue held within the framework of this forum by the former presidents of the Spanish Government Felipe González and Mariano Rajoy and the elected president of the European Council, António Costa.

During that dialogue, Rajoy asked that there be “a little more enthusiasm in defense of democracy and freedom” on the part of some and addressed the Venezuelan opposition leader to affirm that he is the one who won the elections in his country.

His words were followed by prolonged applause, received by Edmundo González with expressions of gratitude.

At the end of that event, the three participants in the dialogue approached him to hug him, like other attendees on the first day of the forum, including the leader of the conservative Popular Party, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, the main opposition force in Spain.

Felipe González referred to the situation in Venezuela to remember that after everything that happened, the presidential candidate is in Spain.

Ironically, he described the situation: “Edmundo González did not win the elections, Maduro lost them. So who won them? Nobody knows. There is no way to know who won the elections.”

On Wednesday in Washington, the Carter Center, an American organization that was an electoral observer in the Venezuelan presidential elections of July 28, showed original voting records to the Organization of American States (OAS) that point to the victory of the opponent Edmundo González Urrutia.

According to the minutes presented by the Carter Center, Edmundo González Urrutia obtained 67% of the votes, while the current president, Nicolás Maduro, had 31%.

The National Electoral Council (CNE), controlled by Chavismo, maintains that Maduro won those elections, despite the fact that it has not published the minutes with the disaggregated results.

The forum in which Edmundo González will speak this Friday was inaugurated by the King of Spain, Felipe VI, in an event with the presence, among others, of the High Representative of the European Union (EU) for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell.
