The Spanish King of Amman: The conflict in Gaza has brought untold destruction and must stop

Jordan – King Felipe VI of Spain stressed that the conflict, which began a year ago in Gaza and brought images of untold suffering and devastation in the Strip and continues to worsen as it spreads to Lebanon, must end as soon as possible.

Philip VI said during his meeting with the Spanish community in Jordan at the home of the Spanish ambassador in Amman on Saturday evening: “We want to see the end of the human tragedy and the silence of weapons, so that we can return to the path of politics and diplomacy.”

He added, “Resuming efforts made with greater intensity to achieve a two-state solution that lays the foundations for a solid and lasting peace for the Palestinian and Israeli peoples.”

The King of Spain continued, saying: “In these moments, we are also united by the deep desire for peace and dialogue.”

Israeli forces have been launching air strikes on southern and eastern Lebanon and the southern suburbs of Beirut for more than a week, while a few days ago they announced the start of a ground operation in Lebanese territory, without any progress on the ground being announced until now.

On the other hand, sirens continue to sound in several areas of Israel after Palestinian and Lebanese factions fired hundreds of rockets at Israeli military sites and settlements, amid a strict blackout in Tel Aviv regarding human and material losses.

The Public Health Emergency Operations Center of the Lebanese Ministry of Health confirmed that “the number of victims of the Israeli aggression has risen to 2,036 martyrs and 9,653 injured since October 8 until Friday, September 4.”

Israel also continues its devastating war on Gaza, ignoring the UN Security Council resolution to stop it immediately and the orders of the International Court of Justice to take measures to prevent acts of genocide and to improve the catastrophic humanitarian situation in the Strip.

Since October 7, 2023, more than 138,000 people have been killed and wounded in the war on Gaza, most of them children and women, and more than 10,000 are missing amid massive destruction and deadly famine.
