A dispute over a coffee maker ended in divorce between a couple after 17 years of happy marriage.
In exciting details, the Family Court in Cairo witnessed one of the most strange divorce cases, where a woman asked to end a marriage that had lasted 17 years due to a dispute over a coffee maker.
The story began with a stable married life, in which the couple enjoyed luxury thanks to the husband’s work abroad, which enabled him to give luxurious gifts to his wife and their two daughters, who are 15 and 10 years old.
However, despite this material prosperity, differences gradually began to emerge.
One of the reasons for these disputes was the wife’s refusal to move to live with her husband abroad, as she preferred to stay near her family in Egypt, which led to an increasingly tense relationship between them.
Matters reached their peak when the husband discovered that his wife had gifted the coffee machine he had bought for himself to her sister without his knowledge, which angered him and he considered this behavior an insult to him and a marginalization of his role in her life.
Following this incident, the husband left the house, and within days the wife sent him his clothes in two bags, a clear indication that he was no longer welcome in the marital home.
In the face of these developments, the wife decided to file a divorce suit, pointing to the continuing differences and lack of understanding between them, in addition to the husband’s insistence on moving her to live with him outside Egypt, which prompted her to take the decision to divorce.
