First, the Chinese local hero keeps the game open with his service. Alcaraz initially missed the break to 5:4, but ultimately won the set in the tiebreak.

Wu also creates the second movement openly for a long time. However, Alcaraz takes the serve from the 24-year-old Chinese to make it 4-2 and storms into the round of 16 after 1:41 hours.

Sinner dominant after teething problems

Jannik Sinner, however, has to tremble a bit with his 6:7(3), 6:4, 6:2 victory over the Argentinian Tomas Martin Etcheverry.

The Italian missed two break points to take the lead in the first set with a 6:5 lead. As a result, Sinner has four mini-breaks that lead to a 0-1 set deficit.

As a result, the US Open winner halved his avoidable mistakes and conquered two breaks to equalize the set.

In the deciding set, the ATP leader created eight break chances and took advantage of two of these opportunities. Sinner secured the third round victory after 2:41 hours.

Medvedev also successfully caught up

Daniil Medvedev reached the Shanghai round of 16 after being down a set with 5:7, 6:4, 6:4 over the Italian Matteo Arnaldi.

The 28-year-old Russian quickly gained a 1-0 lead after a break, but had to accept two service losses himself.

Medvedev took the early lead again with a break in the second set before the Russian quickly gave this lead away again. The four-time Grand Slam finalist then took the break lead to 4:3 and achieved a tremor victory in the last service game.

Medvedev finally takes serve from the French Open round of 16 in the third set to take a 5:4 lead and secures the third round victory after 2:45 hours.
