PT Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (SIG) won 16 awards from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) regarding good mining engineering principles (good mining practice) at the 2024 Good Mining Practice Award event organized by the Directorate General of Minerals and Coal in Bidakara Hotel, Jakarta, on Wednesday (25/9).
SIG Operations Director Reni Wulandari explained that the award had increased fourfold from the previous year. At that time, SIG and its subsidiaries received four Good Mining Practice 2023 awards.
“This year’s significant increase is a manifestation of our enthusiasm for continuous improvements to ensure mining activities are carried out safely,” he said in an official statement, Thursday (3/10).

Reni admitted that SIG integrates sustainability aspects in the company’s mining activities, which include environmental aspects, community welfare, and occupational safety and health (K3), to minimize negative impacts and create broad benefits for all stakeholders.
“By carrying out sustainable mining, SIG takes on greater responsibility in a broader context,” he said.
Reni explained that in mining activities at the SIG Tuban Factory, for example, SIG applied the method zero run off to maintain the balance of underground water in the mining area. Meanwhile, in post-mining land management, SIG applies reclamation innovation using a flow system. This technique is done by making a hole in the form of a longitudinal groove, like a trench with certain dimensions as a planting medium, so that it is more effective, efficient and environmentally friendly.

The 16 awards won by SIG include 8 awards for SIG Tuban Factory and Rembang Factory, 1 award for PT Semen Padang, 2 awards for PT Semen Baturaja Tbk, and 5 awards for PT Solusi Bangun Indonesia Tbk (SBI) factories in Narogong, Tuban and Lhoknga.
The eight awards won by SIG include the Best Predicate Award in the Mineral and Coal Mining Environmental Management category for the Tuban Factory, the Best Predicate Award in the Mineral and Coal Mining Safety Management category for the Tuban Factory, the Aditama Award in the Mineral and Coal Mining Environmental Management category for the Factory Tuban, Aditama Award in the category of Mineral and Coal Mining Safety Management for the Tuban Factory.
Then, the Main Award in the Mineral and Coal Mining Safety Management category for the Rembang Factory, the Primary Award in the Mineral and Coal Mining Environmental Management category for the Rembang Factory, and the Primary Award in the Mineral and Coal Conservation Management category for the Tuban Factory and Rembang Factory.
