other treatments throughout the city. No correlation with Fano

PESARO Case of Dengue in the port area, the rain “stops” the first night of disinfestation. «Postponed for 24 hours, then we will continue with the adulticidal intervention» explains the president of Aspes Luca Pieri who is in charge of the treatment. Meanwhile, the conditions of the 70-year-old from Viale Napoli infected by the tiger mosquito are improving: an indigenous case given that the man had not returned from a trip abroad to the risk areas, which for the Ast has no correlation with the Fano outbreak , and for which the intervention between the port and the sea area was necessary. On Friday night, between 3 and 4.30, the disinfestation operation was scheduled in Viale Napoli and surrounding areas, following the case of Dengue detected in the city. Nothing to be done, the rain blocked every procedure.

The rain is uncomfortable

«It rained until Saturday morning (yesterday, DNR) the intervention would have been useless, because the effectiveness connected to this work would have been lost given that the water invalidates its action», reports Pieri, president of Aspes, in charge by the Municipality to carry out disinfestation. The surgery was postponed by a day, scheduled for the night just gone by, weather permitting. The case of Dengue concerns a 70-year-old who lives in Viale Napoli. He has been hospitalized since September 28th (the day the symptoms began), as reported by the Marche Region, his conditions are improving. The area affected by the disinfestation was limited to a radius of approximately 300 metres. The National Arbovirus Plan indicates an intervention within a radius of 200 meters from the case’s home, so Pesaro opted for a situation of greater guarantee, reaching 100 meters more. Thus the radius covered, in addition to viale Napoli, also via Amalfi, viale Gorizia, viale Battisti, via Calata Duilio, via della Sanità, via Genova, via Grado, via Monfalcone, viale Napoli, via Paterni, via Pisa, via Renzoni, road between the two ports, viale Trento, viale Trieste. The disinfestation was anticipated by a leaflet. Yesterday morning the flyers were posted on the walls of the school in Viale Napoli, in the trees and in various other places. In addition to the specifications on the planned intervention, the union order of 4 October is reported with the indications to be respected.

The precautions

These include the precaution of keeping windows closed, pets indoors and not staying in the areas during treatment. The company appointed by Aspes will continue with the adulticidal intervention in the days to come, taking into account that the lowering of temperatures in recent days contributes naturally to the reduction of mosquito reproduction. «We will carry out a larvicidal action for precautionary purposes throughout the city, intervening in the drains and not excluding any area – Pieri points out – This year between late spring and early summer we have already carried out six, it will mean that we will arrive at seven. We will also set traps. The tiger mosquito has become endemic, we cannot eliminate it, but we can contain it. And the private sector must also do its part. Gardens and green areas must be kept clean. Water stagnation eliminated. We inspected the port area and we noticed something unattended or left abandoned.”

The precedents

It is not the first time in 2024 that Dengue has been reported in Pesaro. It had already happened on two other occasions. First in March, in the Pantano district, then in May, in the center area. But they were all cases of people infected by the tiger mosquito and returning from South America.
