The number of elderly immigrants in Kuwait has reached 70,000, and the government has taken a big decision.
Kuwait has decided not to renew the residency status of expatriates aged 221 to 60 years old, as a result of the Kuwaiti government’s move to increase the high school education level and over 60 years of age by the Public Authority for Manpower. More than 70,000 foreign elderly people will have to leave Kuwait.
Only persons meeting these conditions will be allowed to transfer their Iqama to a dependent visa whose children are working in Kuwait.
On the other hand, sources have denied these reports, which said that the iqama of those working in Kuwait from the new year will be renewed for only one year. It should be noted that two days ago, the Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior gave a deadline to the expatriates living in the country to register their children in Iqama.
The Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior says that more than 8,000 foreign children are living in Kuwait without registration. The parents of these children did not register them after birth. According to the Kuwaiti law, these children have gone into the unknown.
Under the new plan issued by the Ministry of Interior regarding the registration of children, it will be mandatory to register the child in Iqama within 4 months from the birth, otherwise a fine of four dinars per day will be imposed.
