All the reactions after the Saint-Etienne victory

ASSE welcomed theALSO Auxerre this Saturday at 5 p.m. in Geoffroy-Guichard. For this extremely important match, the two teams promoted to Ligue 1 this season wanted to win against a direct competitor for retention. ASSE finally won 3-1 thanks to a hat-trick from Davitashvili. Like every week, here are the reactions of the different players in the meeting at the beIN Sports microphone.

“Triple, what more can we say?” »

Mathieu Cafaro (ASSE): “We know that it was a very important match against a direct competitor. We had to win this match, especially in front of our home crowd. It’s done and just before the break, it will feel good. Some will go to selection, we will stay and continue to work. (…) We know that we do not have the best team in the championship. But with what we put in today and what we will have to put in in the other matches, we know that we will gain points if we continue like this. (…) Davitashvili’s performance? Triple, what more can we say? Simply XXL and congratulations to him, he made us win the match. »

Gaëtan Perrin (AJ Auxerre): “There is definitely frustration. We did not enter the match as we wanted and as we needed to win this match. Afterwards we have a burst of pride, at 2-1 we reverse the trend in terms of pressure. Behind we manage to push a little but we don’t score this second goal which would have been good for us and we take the third. Unfortunately we leave with 0 points against a direct competitor and that’s not what we came for. »

Lassine Sinayoko (AJ Auxerre) : “We lacked intensity, impact. When we play a match like we did last week, we don’t have the right to come and perform like that. This is the reality, so we will quickly get back to work and the break will do us good. We will come back stronger. (…) When a crucial element like Jubal is missing, it can only destabilize the team. But we were prepared for it so that’s not the reason for the defeat. In terms of efficiency on both surfaces, we must do much better. We have actions to get back to the score, we don’t score them and we give goals to the opponent. By giving goals every time and not scoring, we cannot win matches. »

“It’s a real club victory. »

Christophe Pélissier (coach AJ Auxerre): “I think that when you are not able to defend in transition, you cannot hope for anything. Of course there is the injury to Jubal during the warm-up, who is our central defensive pillar, but then we are too naive. (…) We have situations. We know that we create chances. Are we playing outside too much? This is the question I’m asking myself because we play, then we get sucked in and caught on the counter. (…) The Saint-Etienne trio (in midfield, editor’s note) was better than us. This is part of the balance of power that must take place in matches. We know that if we have control in the middle we are often better. But once again, defensively we are too naive and light to win away. »

Olivier Dall’Oglio (ASSE coach): “The 3 points will give confidence to the team. We need to be rewarded for all the energy we expend. (…) We need to make a physical impact, to win duels. Like the last goal, it is Cafaro who recovers the ball and we know that on a high recovery, the opponent will be destabilized. (…) Pierre Ekwah in midfield, who is still very young, can give us that stability that we would like to see more often. We had the energy, we won, the supporters were there too. It’s a real club victory. (…) We realized that if we wanted to exist, we needed more than that in the investment, the intensity of the races. Whether you are labeled a Ligue 2 player or not, or a young player who is arriving, you have to raise the level. It’s a question of attitude, of behavior and we can change it very quickly. That’s what I told them. (…) Yunis (Abdelhamid) did not play but he was really there in the locker room. He is just rebuilding himself, this remains an important element because we will need experience. »
