A 46-year-old man was seriously injured while gardening with a chainsaw in Münchberg on Friday morning (October 4, 2024).
Accident: Chainsaw slips
At around 11:50 a.m., the man was alone trimming a tree on a ladder about four meters high. While he was trying to cut through a large branch with the chainsaw, he slipped and cut his left arm in the elbow area. The chainsaw, which was still running, also severed an artery, resulting in heavy blood loss.
Quick reaction prevents anything worse from happening
Despite the serious injury, the man managed to get off the ladder safely and had the presence of mind to bandage his heavily bleeding wound. Thanks to this quick self-help, life-threatening blood loss was prevented. Rescue workers who arrived quickly on the scene provided further medical care before the injured man was flown by helicopter to a nearby hospital.
No risk to life after successful operation
Thanks to the injured man’s quick reaction, the rapid help of the rescue workers and an immediate operation, the 46-year-old’s life is no longer in danger.
