The two other co-chairs are Finland’s Elsi Katainen (Renew) and Portugal’s André Rodrigues (Socialists and Democrats)
It is one of the most historic and highly influential Inter-Party Groups as, this year, it completes 30 years of operation, and in the previous Parliamentary period it enjoyed the support of five political Groups (European People’s Party, Socialists and Democrats, Renew, Greens, Left).
In his greeting, ND MEP Dimitris Tsiodras emphasized that “It is a special honor for me to assume the co-chairmanship of the Inter-Party Group on Climate Change, Biodiversity and Sustainable Development, and I will do my best to support its actions in within the framework of my parliamentary duties. I will also be happy, and in particular, to support the working group on water resilience, a very important topic on the political agenda, which I have highlighted.”
He also emphasized that “by supporting this Inter-Party Group we are promoting open dialogue and the exchange of views on key legislative developments, which benefit the environment and the European consumer, remaining oriented towards the formulation of balanced scientific policies and taking into account the relevant socio-economic and environmental impacts ».
