Liverpool with a 1-0 win against Glasner’s team

In the first seven rounds under Klopp’s successor Arne Slot, Liverpool only gave up points once (0-1 Nottingham Forest). The lead over Manchester City and Arsenal was initially four points. Coach Glasner’s Eagles, still without a win, are in a relegation zone with just three points.

A goal from Diogo Jota, who scored from close range after a cross from Cody Gakpo (9th), made the difference in south London. Despite dominance, Liverpool failed to make it 2-0 early. The hosts sniffed at an equalizer in the second half, with Liverpool’s Alisson also providing solid support. The Brazilian goalie had to be substituted at the finish with a thigh injury. Vitezslav Jaros, in goal for Austrian champions Sturm Graz in the spring, replaced him.

Liverpool’s revenge for Eagles win in April

Glasner had won his only previous duel with Liverpool 1-0 away at Anfield in April. This season, however, the problem is primarily on the offensive. Only five goals were scored in seven games.
